Spy pictures have been unleashed across the internet of the facelifted
Land Rover Discovery, more or less completely undisguised, ahead of it's official release date in 2014.
Visually, it does not look as if much has changed, the biggest alterations however are beneath the skin of the vehicle. The 2014
Land Rover model is getting rid of the naturally aspirated 5.0 litre V8 engine, though this wasn't available in the United Kingdom, for a more frugal supercharged V6 unit.
Looking to get the supercharged 375 brake horsepower 3.0 litre V6 engine that features in the Jaguar F-Type, the new discovery model will boast excellent performance whilst reducing fuel consumption, along with CO2 emissions. There is also a possibility that the engine could be available in the United Kingdom.
Due to the engine layout, the Land Rover DIscovery model is unlikely to get the nine speed gearbox that can be found in the Range Rover Evoque, it is expected however to stick with the eight speed ZF gearbox from the current model.
Cosmetic changes with the model include brand new LED strips like the ones featured on the new Range Rover model. The grille has also been modified slightly with elliptical cut outs for the headlights. On the interior, there is likely to be a new steering wheel and dashboard.
The 2014
Land Rover Discovery model is expected to have a starting price of around £38,000, with first deliveries being made in the first part of 2014.
