The Ford Fiesta Remains the Best Selling Car in Britain

Ford Fiesta is Britain's Best Selling Car

The Ford Fiesta was the best selling car in the UK in 2012 and it seems that the trend has continued into 2013. The Ford Fiesta has already sold more than 60,000 more Fiesta models compared to that at the same point last year. The month of April was the Ford Fiesta models best selling month in the UK since 2008.

The UK Car Market is one that has continued to grow and has seen a general increase in the number of sales month on month for approximately 15 consecutive months. In total, 163,357 new cars were registered in the sales month of April which is 21,035 more than last years month of April which achieved 142,322.

Ford predict that the increased demand for petrol models has led to the increased demand for the likes of the Ford Fiesta and the Ford Focus. According to last years figures, there is a 20% higher demand for petrol models in general rather than going for a diesel engined model. In terms of market share for different fuel types, petrol engined vehicles have increased by a total of 2%.

The top ten best selling vehicles in the UK look as familiar as they have done since the same point last time round. The Nissan Qashqai is in position 6 for sales having achieved a total of 3761 sales and sits behind the Vauxhall Astra in 5th and in front of the Volkswagen Polo in 7th. The Vauxhall Astra has sold a total of 4244 models and the Volkswagen Polo 3630. On surprise and recent riser is the Fiat 500. The Fiat 500 currently sits in position 8 for the top ten best selling models having sold a total of 3037 which is just over 6,000 less sales than the Volkswagen Polo model in front.

In terms of manufacturer figures, the Nissan brand seems to have had the biggest increase once again as there has been a total of 27% more Nissan models registered compared to the previous period. Ford have seen little difference after the firm had one of the most successful sales years last year.
