The brand new Mercedes GLK is spotted testing

The brand new second generation of the Mercedes GLK model is all set to go on sale mid way through the course of next year and we are pleased to report on the latest news that the vehicle has been officially spotted undergoing testing on the road. When the vehicle is released next year it will be the first time ever that the car has been launched in a right hand drive format and it has been confirmed that the car will share the same platform as that of the current C Class model from Mercedes. An official from Mercedes have stated that “The second generation model will be a central pillar in our plans to increase world wide sales, particularly in right hand drive markets that have so far been denied to the GLK”. Bodywork has been altered greatly on the new GLK model for next year which sees the car increase when it comes to aero dynamic proportions and agility. As one of the expected big challengers for the Audi Q5 the car also receives more updates which make it worth the wait.

What new features are confirmed for the Mercedes GLK ?

It has been confirmed that a range of both petrol and diesel engines will be made available with the new GLK model. A top of the range AMG version of the car is also expected in the future which will benefit from a great deal of power. A 4.0 litre, twin turbo charged V8 petrol unit will find its way into the AMG. As standard for the GLK, it has been confirmed that a manual seven speed gearbox will come thrown in with the car as will a nine speed automatic transmission system. As far as some of those more expensive changes made to the exterior of the car are concerned, the Mercedes brand have officially confirmed that they have included a longer wheelbase and much wider tracks than the previous addition to the range and more interior space is also included this time around.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport and the BMW X3 have been heavily linked to the new Mercedes GLK and we believe that given what we know so far, the car will have no trouble delivering on a healthy source of competition for these vehicles.

When can we expect to see the Mercedes GLK on our streets ?

The brand have officially confirmed that the car will go on sale from mid way into 2015 with an expected date to be announced closer to the time. There is no word as of yet regarding a price tag that will come along with the car.
