Audi have made their presence felt over the years with SUV models being introduced on a global scale. It has been confirmed that for 2016, the firm are all set to launch a smaller SUV model named the Q1. There is a lot of speculation in the air regarding what features and specs will come along with this brand new model as the German brand are playing their cards close to their chest on this one. It is believed however that the car may be publicly displayed for the first time ever at next years Detroit motor show. The SUV sector is one of the fastest developing divisions in the car industry and companies such as Nissan and Toyota have had their run of the division for a number of years now. We have seen models like the Juke bring in a heated source of competition in the SUV market but will Audi even the playing field with the Q1?.
So what features can you expect to find in this brand new Audi vehicle and what is expected to come along with this car when it does launch?. An MQB underpinning platform is expected to be used on the vehicle which is the same used on the new Volkswagen Polo. The brand new A1 from Audi set to launch in two years time will also incorporate this platform. With a look into the engine line up that will come along with the car, nothing has been confirmed by the Audi brand officially as of yet but it could be expected that the firm may include the fitting of a two litre TFSi petrol engine which would see power put out around the 220 bhp area. Audi's all wheel drive platform is also expected to be match with the car. Rumours are speculating that an S tronic, automatic transmission could also be featured in the Q1. Both petrol and diesel engines are expected to be up for grabs and should be carried over from the current A1 model. Stop start technology can also be expected.
Teaser images of the car posted earlier this year show the vehicle in a Blue paint scheme with that familiar chrome surrounded front grille. Chrome mirrors,Black roof rails and slim headlights can also be clearly seen from the images. Mercedes have recently revealed their future SUV design strategy with the G-Code concept model and BMW have announced the new X5 and X6M models. So does the Q1 have the ability to match the competitiveness that these vehicles will put out from launch?.
Although nothing has been confirmed as of yet regarding what price tag will come along with this brand new model, it is expected that prices for the car will begin at somewhere around the £16,000 area for the entry level model. Expect to see the Q1 arrive on our roads early on in 2016.
