New Peugeot 308 GT

New Peugeot 308 GT

It has already been announced this week that the Peugeot manufacturers will be bringing a new estate version of the 308 world car of the year. However, it is also believed that the 308 model will also be offered as a GT version.

The new Peugeot 308 GT model will also pave the way for a new 308 R which is due to arrive in the market in 2015. The GT 308 model at Peugeot will feature a new high powered petrol engine that should rival the performance figures achieved by the likes of the Skoda Octavia vRS and the Seat Leon Sport Tourer.

The Petrol engine is thought to be the 1.6 litre turbo engine that has previously been seen in the 208 GTi model. The engine is capable of producing 197bhp and will get the 308 model from 0-62mph in just 7.5 seconds.

The diesel offering for the 308 model is likely to be the 1.6 litre turbo engine that was also used in the 208 GT. The model will produce 185bhp from the 2.0 litre Blue Hdi engine.

The 308 model will now have the ability to rival models such as the Kia Cee'd GT which has recently arrived in the market. The new Peugeot model is rumoured to be priced at somewhere in the region of £20,495 but may cost a little bit more.

The Peugeot Citroen brand seem to be on the right track as they look to once again increase the market share of both brands and increase sales figures. The French manufacturer has struggled for sales since 2012 after the European car market failed and sales declined dramatically.

It is believed that the new 308 car of the year model, will also undercut the likes of the Volkswagen Golf hot hatch and the Ford Focus ST. The 308 R model was first previewed as a concept model at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it is believed that Peugeot will take it to production in 2015.
