Mini 4th Generation

Mini Fourth Generation

The BMW owned and subsequently British brand, Mini, have announced plans to shorten the range and only have four or five models in the new fourth generation at Mini. The current model line up at the Mini brand is six or seven models and to reduce that may see the market size reduce.

Mini have recently joined the small van market which will allow BMW to increase market share over fellow rivals. However, the BMW based brand are yet to release an electrically powered Mini Cooper which may assist the BMW i-3 model in cleaning up sales in the electric car market.

The German manufacturer has released the newest and most exciting electrically powered 'futuristic' based car ever, according to certain reports and is set to take the majority of market share from the current leader, the Nissan Leaf.

The Mini Cooper electric model will come as no surprise and will be amongst a number of manufacturers joining the market with ready made models adapted for the electric car market. The Mercedes brand have used the B Class model, whilst Audi plan to use the A3 and Volkswagen to use both the UP model and the Golf.

It is believed that the now German based brand, is keen on opening a new Mini design studio based in London. The recent success of the Qashqai and the Juke models over at Nissan are a direct product of a Nissan based design centre situated in London.

It has also been rumoured that a Qashqai and Juke crossover rival at Mini will be arriving in the market in 2017. The likes of Jaguar and Aston Martin have both recently released concept models which include new SUV models. The Baby Jaguar model ran away with majority of headlines following the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The new Mini SUV will be the start of Mini models making the step up in both size and stature in the future.
