Mercedes unleash the AMG GT3

Mercedes stated last week that they would be debuting their brand new AMG addition in the form of the AMG GT3 at next weeks big Geneva Motor Show. However if you are very excited to learn more about this vehicle, then our post today will work wonders for you. Mercedes have opened up about the new car prior to its debut and have announced a list of the specifications and have also included some performance rates with their announcement. The new model is set to be a racer style vehicle and given the past success that Mercedes Benz have attained with AMG we think this new model is certainly going to be something special. The new model is expected to become available from 2016 onwards and the model to be shown in Geneva is going to be a production ready version of the car. Next year is certainly going to be the battle of the GT models. Companies such as Kia with their Ceed will go GT although based in a different segment but the big fight ahead of the AMG model is set to come from Porsche who have plans to launch their updated 911 GT3 RS model which will also go on show next week.

What does the AMG GT3 have to combat Porsche?

So in order to become the top model when it comes to the challenges that awaits the car, Mercedes will need to produce something special with this particular car and given the specs that have been revealed, we believe this is exactly what they have done. The brand have confirmed that the car will now be fitted with a 6.3 litre, V8 engine that is going to put out somewhere close to the 600 brake horse power area. The car looks very racer style indeed as demonstrated by a new rear diffuser and a spoiler too. Large air intakes have also been include in order to have the car perform more efficiently.

Inside of the cabin is one of the most upto date and sporty designs we have seen in a long time. A Formula 1 style steering wheel, carbon fibre design racing seats,a trip computer and a wide centre console has also been thrown into the mix. Around 3.6 seconds is expected to be revealed as a 0 to 62 miles per hour speed time demonstrating the kind of power that the engine unit will pack. The GT3 is to be one of the biggest acts to be shown in Geneva and we are looking forward to seeing this brand new car in the flesh and even more excited to see it performing.

The AMG GT3 at the Nurburgring

Power has been seen from the car when it was unleashed onto the world famous Nurburgring track. The vehicle achieved a strong solid lap time of just 7:30seconds but new features such as wider tracks have been announced for the car which will be included to make the car perform even quicker. Expect a top speed limitation to come from the car of around 193 miles per hour if not more.
