The Range Rover Sport SVR breaks the Nurburgring speed record

Jaguar/Land Rover special vehicle operations division for a number of months now have been releasing teaser videos of the brand new SVR version of the Range Rover Sport. The videos have shown quick clips of the car speeding around the Nurburgring over in Germany where the power and overall rates of some cars are officially put to the test. During that time Land Rover have stated that this will be the fastest ever Range Rover Sports addition to the line up and they were certainly not wrong. It is official that the SVR model has broken the speed record at the Nurburgring for all SUV vehicles. It achieved the whole track in a total time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds. The new Sport broke the previous record by one second. The Macan Turbo from Porsche held that record from earlier on into this year.

What does the Range Rover Sport pack to achieve such an award ?

So to break the Nurburgring speed record is indeed something amazing. The track which consists of over 70 corners and is around 13 miles long has had many contenders over the years but none have achieved what the new SVR has. So what gives it this ability to hit so much speed and perform so well ?.

Well a 5.0 litre, supercharged V8 engine powers this spectacular car. This indeed shares the same engine as that of the Jaguar RS. It has been confirmed that a total of 542 brake horse power is also developed from the engine. This means that power is upgraded compared to that of the current Range Rover Sport by a big leap of 39 bhp. Although not confirmed as of yet, it is expected that the speed covering 0 to 62 miles per hour will roll in at somewhere around the 4.5 second area. With that in mind, rival competition on the SUV market will certainly be looking to match this impressive vehicle. Do the likes of Audi or even big SUV seller Nissan have something up their sleeves to take on this beast ?.

Features for the new SVR Sport model are yet to be announced but we do have the understanding that an all new tuned suspension system and more powerful brakes than ever before will also come along with next years Range Rover Sport.

When will the Range Rover Sport SVR arrive ?

We know that the SVR is set to go on sale over the duration of next year with an exact date still yet to be announced. Unfortunately a price tag is yet to be confirmed either but we do expect to hear more soon.
