Insurance Fraudsters face up to two years behind bars.

Insurance fraud costs us all millions and millions of pounds a year in increased insurance premiums, so it is always welcome news when these people are brought before the judicial system.

The London Borough of Have ring have done just that and prosecuted three people for attempting insurance fraud and contempt of court.

The fraudseters Mark Bowyer of Rush Green, James James of Dagenham.

Richard Bowyer who denied any involvement in the insurance fraud was also found in contempt of court.

Our fraudsters story begins some time ago back in 2006 when Mark Bowyer claimed that he tripped on a pothole on his way back home from work and subsequently had a double fracture to his ankle. This story was also backed up at the time by Mr Richard Bowyer his farther.

Some time later the Bowyer family embarked on a compensation claims procedure against the council and based on what was at first glance damming evidence the council admitted liability.

Council officers became suspicious after examining the accident and emergency records which stated that Mr Bowyer instead of fracturing by tripping over a pole hole had instead fallen off a wall. The Bowyer family then dropped the claim back in 2010 but the London Council persuaded the contempt of court charges.

The three now face a maximum of two years imprisonment. The total cost to the council for bringing the claim to court is estimated to be in the region of £100,000.
