Honda reveal full specifications for their new HRV

It was last October at the big motoring event in Paris that we first seen the debut of the next in line to receive crossover treatment from Japanese car firm Honda. The model itself is the all new HRV. The news just keeps coming in about this model as the brand have this week revealed the full line up of specifications to come along with the new vehicle. In our post today we are checking out all of the latest information to be revealed on the new model and we have everything covered from engine selections right the way up to new technology incorporated into the vehicle. The crossover segment is becoming increasingly more popular as the years go by and we have already seen some of the worlds finest manufacturers lay it all on the line with some new additions. One of the biggest competitors that the HRV will look to take on is the Nissan Juke. So with that being said, what kind of special features and attractions does the new HRV offer you in order to contend with the biggest and best in the crossover market?.

A look into the new specifications of the HRV to be announced

So our first port of call today will be the power source for the vehicle and we begin with a check underneath the bonnet. It has been confirmed that for UK fans, only two engines will be up for grabs and these will include both a petrol and diesel selection. Your petrol option is a 1.5 i-VTEC engine carrying a capacity of 1.5 litres and delivering 129 brake horse power. If diesel is more your cup of tea though, we see a capacity of 1.6 litres offered sending out a slightly smaller 119bhp. Manual transmissions are offered as standard but if you choose to purchase the petrol engine option, you will be faced with the optional extra of a semi automatic transmission. Inside of the cabin we can see a part leather interior which also offers a multi functioning steering wheel, chrome look inserts and a brand new infotainment system.

This new system will allow drivers to link up their smartphone to the system which will then allow them to receive traffic updates for their area and also access to a range of social media apps. Even entry level models get the system but in a five inch design. Opt for a higher trim though and the screen size adds another two inches.

A big prime focus area for Honda has been the safety equipment that has now been included and the company have now equipped the cars with some extras such as an active braking assistance setup, a lane departure warning system, airbags in curtain design aswell as the front and intelligent speed assistance also comes into play.

When can we expect to see the HRV crossover on the road?

Although an exact date is still yet to be given for a time of launch, we do know that our first glimpse at a production version of the car will arrive in Geneva in a few weeks but the HRV is expected to go on the road around the Summer time of this year. Prices are yet to be announced but expect to hear more on this in Geneva.
