Formula 1 Round Up – Chinese Grand Prix
This weekend was the fourth race weekend of the season and ended in a familiar fashion with a Mercedes driver winning the race. Lewis Hamilton won his third race in a row and Mercedes' fourth in a row to continue the teams dominance.
A number of issues come up during the race including the issue between team orders and Red Bull. It appeared that the Red Bull team had ordered four time world champion to move over in order to let the faster driver and faster team Daniel Ricciardo through on the track.
Daniel Ricciardo went on to finish in fourth place and 20 seconds ahead of team mate Sebastian Vettel who finished in fifth. The issue of team orders has a history within the Red Bull garage after Mark Webber was told on numerous occasions to yield position to team mate Sebastian Vettel.
Last year there was more controversy in the Red Bull garage as Sebastian Vettel ignored team orders not to overtake Mark Webber. When Sebastian was on the receiving end of the team orders it seemed he did not like it one bit. The Renault powered Red Bull pair were both on the same tyres which was questioned by Sebastian when the order was made.
However, it was clear to see that Ricciardo was the faster driver and Vettel insisted he moved over rather than admit that he was overtaken. Other teams including Mercedes have been allowed to race within the team which is something the Lewis Hamilton has been used to in the past.
Back in Lewis' first year in Formula 1, he was paired with Fernando Alonso he did not enjoy the youngsters rise to success within the McLaren Mercedes team and throughout the season grew in frustration. In the end it appeared to turn sour as Fernando Alonso appeared to purposefully hold up Hamilton in the pit lane. At the end of the season Fernando returned to Renault before eventually making his way to Ferrari.
