Alfa Romeo Giulietta Progression revealed

Automakers Alfa Romeo have decided to celebrate their Giulietta's 60th anniversary with a new special edition, dubbed the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Progression. The Giulietta has been a constant in Alfa's line up since the Italian manufacturer first unveiled their Giulietta Sprint at the 1954 Turin Motor Show in their home country of Italy.

The Alfa Romeo special edition

The new special edition Giulietta comes complete with Lunar Pearl paint, one of the many additions to the 2014 Alfa Romeo Giulietta range, that should cost £510 extra. The model's powered by a 118 brake horse power engine which allows for a 0-60mph time of 9.4 seconds, before the vehicle clocks out at a top speed of 121mph. Fuel economy for the Giulietta Progression is pegged at 44mpg with a claimed CO2 emission of 148g/km. This means road tax on the special edition Giulietta will set you back £145.

As part of the appeal for the special edition model, Alfa Romeo are to offer any customer that buys the car using the company's finance scheme, through either Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) or Higher Purchase, a £1,250 discount. This saving equates to how much the company's Giulietta cost back in 1954. This discount is to be offered between the 7th of April and the 22nd of April.

Alongside this offer, buyers of any Alfa Romeo Giulietta, within the same time period, will automatically be entered into a prize draw that means they could win the car outright for just £1,250.

Other news from Alfa Romeo

Other updates to the 2014 Alfa Romeo Giulietta range include new engines, the inclusion of Alfa Romeo's Uconnect touch screen infotainment system (now standard fit), a variety of new seat upholsteries and a choice of new colours.

Recently, Alfa Romeo climbed six places in the 2013 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey, showing improvement in it's reliability record and slowly shedding it's long-held reputation. There have been no major recalls or reported problems for the Giulietta either and the model received the maximum five star rating from Euro NCAP's crash safety test.

These updates and the addition of the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Progression special edition model come as a boost to the Giulietta, which offers eye catching looks yet is outclassed by it's hatchback rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, Hyundai i30 and the Kia Cee'd.
