Mercedes Benz Announce New Van for 2013
December 19, 2012

The new Citan model has been built to bridge the gap that was once between the current fleet of Mercedes commercial models. Current evaluations of the model have described the model as being a fuel efficient, low emission and powerful vehicle designed to reduce all round pollution given off by the commercial vehicle industry.

Despite the desire to be more environmentally friendly, the Citan model carries all the quality and attributes of the other commercial vehicles on offer at Mercedes such as the Vito and the Sprinter etc. The team at Mercedes based the van on the occupation of the day to day delivery driver who operates in small urban areas.

The van was then designed around the correct attributes needed in helping the driver to be successful in his job, which would attract demand from delivery firms globally.

The Citan has an option of one of two powerful engines in the turbodiesel 1.5 or the more traditional 1.2 litre petrol engine. Despite its consistent focus on efficiency there has not been any reductions in the weight or storage capacity in the vehicle.

It has been said that the new Mercedes Benz Citan is a Renault in disguise, as the van is produced in the same factory as the Kangoo in France. The rumours have come from the agreed alliance between Mercedes owners Daimler and Renault which came about in 2010.

The front of the Citan is taken from the current range of Mercedes A Class range whilst underneath the exterior lies the Renault Kangoo, according to the sceptics out there.

The Citan range will come with three separate models under the parent name of Citan in, the panel van, traveliner and the dualiner. The Citan range is set to be released in the U.K at a launch event on the 24th of January 2013 at the Weston Super Mare dealership.
