The new Mazda CX-3 Crossover model is revealed

Rumours of Mazda introducing a new crossover model have been circulating around the automotive industry for a number of weeks now and it was yesterday at the press day in Los Angeles at the annual auto show that the firm finally revealed a brand new CX-3 crossover model which has the likes of the Nissan Juke in its sights as some key competition. The firm have revealed the range of petrol engines to come along with the vehicle with some the diesel ranges still remaining unknown. A range of new exterior features and interior technology have also been confirmed for the car with some of the traditional Mazda design features being carried over to the car. Many companies are introducing a good range of crossover models as of late with the Italian firm Fiat being one of the latest with their 500 X being one of the latest vehicles up for grabs. Other vehicles such as the Yeti from Skoda and of course the popular selling Nissan Qashqai have been some of the biggest crossover models of the year, but have Mazda got something special up their sleeve with the new CX-3 that could take on its rivals?.

A view of what will make the CX-3 crossover something special

So where do the specialities of the Mazda CX3 crossover lie and what is it about the car that you should be excited about?. Well looking into some of the classic features we have seen on the firms models in the past, we see that the company have carried over the fittings of LED headlights,a sloping roofline and the addition of a chrome surrounded front grille. A total length of 4,275mm have been included during the design process of the vehicle which makes it just slightly longer than the Nissan Juke in which it aims to bring the fight to. A 2,750mm wheelbase has also been included which therefore results in a decent amount of interior legroom. The fun doesn't stop there however as the brand have introduced a range of new technology features into this crossover also. A new floating seven inch infotainment system has been included alongside a brand new HUD screen which is now located closer to the driver. A multi functioning steering wheel has also been thrown into the mix. A brand new in car connectivity system has also been included which now allows the driver to use audio streaming and Bluetooth connectivity aswell as use the internet whilst on the go.

Now with a look into what hides underneath the bonnet of the car and provides the power to the vehicle, a range of two power outputs have been confirmed to come along with a 2.0 litre, SKYACTIV G petrol engine. These will be available in either 118 or 148bhp formats. A SKYACTIV D diesel unit has also been confirmed to make the cut from the time of launch which will deliver 104bhp and carry 1.5 litres of fuel. Other diesel engines have not been confirmed as of yet but we expect more to be announced closer to the time of launch.

At what point next year will the new CX-3 crossover become available?

An exact date for the car to be launched has yet to be revealed but we do know that the car is expected to be made available from mid way into 2015. A cost of around the £13,000 area can also be expected to come along with the Mazda crossover. We look forward to hearing more about this vehicle and as soon as we do we will make you aware of all of the latest.
