Kia's Optima T hybrid to be revealed this week

Korean car manufacturer Kia have officially confirmed that their brand new Optima hybrid model named the Optima T which is currently a concept machine will be officially revealed this week from the Paris Motor show. The vehicle has been confirmed to benefit from the combinations of both electric power and a diesel unit. The very first Optima model was introduced in the year 2000 and has since seen three generations of the vehicle go on sale. Combining lower C02 emissions and greater power than past Optima models has been a focal point for the brand with this hybrid concept and the technology that will be used in the car was first previewed earlier on this year from the Geneva motor show.

What new technology does the Optima T hybrid introduce?

The engine unit that has gone into this hybrid concept is the very same that is currently used in the Optima that is on sale right now. This means that underneath the bonnet you can expect to find the addition of a 1.7 litre,CRDi turbo diesel unit. Of course this time around it will be joined by an electric motor. A supercharger has also been fitted to the car with the idea that this will improve power and torque deliverance,it also helps to increase engine response at lower speeds. A lead carbon battery rather than the traditional lithium ion has also been included with the concept idea. Vehicles like the Honda Accord and the Legacy from Subaru have delivered on a great source of competition for the Optima in the past but with the manufacturer taking that step into the hybrid market now, can they open up the doors to even more car firms such as Audi and BMW with their i3 EV?.

Will the Optima T hybrid make it into production?

It is unclear at this moment in time as to whether the Optima T hybrid will see the production line or even an estimated time allowance as to when or what price could potentially come along with it. The Optima line up is increasing though as in 2015 the brand new fourth generation model will be set to go on sale here in Britain and across other markets around the world. Expect to see you first glimpse at the Optima T hybrid concept this week from the Paris motor show.
