Chevrolet reveals pair of Corvette special editions

Despite all the bad press gained from their recent recall investigation, General Motors (GM) have announced two new special editions of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray following the positive responses achieved by the two concepts shown at last year's SEMA Motor Show. These two special edition versions are called the Atlantic and the Pacific.

Power for both editions is provided by a 460 brake horse power V8 engine which is capable of reaching 62mph from a standstill in 4.2 seconds. Both editions also come with the Z51 pack as standard which is already standard on all UK models. They feature custom floor mats, splash guards and rear number plate surround. The standard Z51 pack also adds a limited slip differential, bigger tyres, wheels and brakes, plus firmer suspension.

The Chevrolet Corvette Atlantic

The Atlantic is based on the convertible and leans more towards the luxurious finish. This model gains a Z06 style prominent front splitter, Shark grey exterior vents, bonnet graphics and roof inserts, chrome wheels and custom luggage. Power for the Atlantic special edition is distributed by an eight speed automatic transmission.

The Chevrolet Corvette Pacific

The Pacific version is based on the Stingray and gets more aggressive styling inside and out. Along with the standard equipment, the model also gains full length satin black racing stripes, satin black wheels with Stingray centre caps, carbon fibre bodykit and roof panel, carbon rear spoiler, mirrors and exterior badges and red brake calipers.

Inside there are competition sports seats trimmed in either red or black, carbon fibre trim and an indoor car cover. Colour options are limited to red, black, white, silver or grey. Power for the Pacific edition is distributed by a seven speed manual transmission.

Comments on the special edition Chevrolet Corvettes

Kirk Bennion, Corvette exterior design manager, commented, “One of the design goals for the Corvette Stingray was to provide customers with the flexibility to tailor the car to their personality. The Atlantic and Pacific Design Packages were originally designed to showcase how the Stingray could be configured as a luxury sport GT car or as a high-performance motorsport car.”

General Motors have not announced an pricing at present and there has been no reports that the Chevrolet Corvette special editions will make it to the UK market when they go on sale later this year.
