The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X will be making it's return to the UK later this year with a special edition model, dubbed the FQ-440 MR, that will be available in strictly limited number.
The FQ-440 MR features a bespoke ECU map which sees it's 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine produce 440 brake horse power at 6,800rpm and 412lb/ft of torque at 3,100rpm. The special edition Evo uses a HSK turbo, high flow fuel injectors, Janspeed manifold, intake and intercooler piping, as well as a Janspeed exhaust and high flow cat.
Power is distributed to all four wheels through a six speed twin clutch transmission and S-AWC 4WD system. Performance figures for the model have yet to be released.
Keeping that power in check are Alcon 6-pot calipers at the front clamping down on large floating discs, with the suspension lowered by 35mm at the front, and 30mm at the rear. Standard equipment includes 18 inch forged BBC alloy wheels, bi-xenon adaptive headlights, Recaro seats, Rockford Fosgate audio system, 7 inch colour touchscreen navigation, climate control and PIAA motorsport windscreen wipers.
Alongside this, a data recorder connects to the Evo's OBD port and allows various aspects of the vehicle's status such as performance, diagnostics and location to be recorded. The downside is that this data will be available not just to the owner, but also to Mitsubishi UK, and this is considered a condition of the three-year warranty.
Buyers will have to visit the Mitsubishi dealer fairly often as an initial 1,000 mile oil change is required, with services every 4,500 miles or six months thereafter.
Managing director for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, Lance Bradley, commented, “The Lancer Evolution has always been a halo model for Mitsubishi and this special edition is no exception. More powerful than ever before and with a very limited availability, it will be a ‘must have’ for all die-hard Evolution fans.”
Just 40 units of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X FQ-440 MR, offered in Frost White only and at a price tag of £50,000, will be coming to the UK as part of the company's celebrations of 40 years in Europe. For the fans of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, this special edition model will be the last time the Lancer Evo X will be available as the factory in Japan will no longer be producing the model.
