The new Nissan Note DIG-S has arrived in UK showrooms and is to become Nissan's top of the range model in it's Note range.
According to the company, the car combines the low running costs of the existing line up with improved performance. It's engine has been engineered to perform like a larger engine with the use of a supercharger and special engine technology. The vehicle's 98 brake horse power 1.2 litre supercharged three cylinder petrol engine now produces 147Nm of torque. When mated to the standard five speed manual transmission it emits 99g/km of CO2 and returns 65.7mpg. The engine can also be mated to an optional Xtronic transmission for those who don't want a manual gearbox.Although this model is not a top contending rival for the likes of higher end brands such as Maserati and ex Ferrari designer's new Kode 9 vehicle, we believe that this model will be a strong rival for the likes of other brands such as, Vauxhall amongst others.
On top of changes to the engine, there have also been slight tweaks to the model's suspension and steering to improve the car's performance. The Nissan Note DIG-S also comes with new technology. It now features Nissan's start/stop system which works to improve economy by stopping the engine when the car is stationary. Safety Shield technology has also been added, monitoring hazards using cameras and sensors. Drivers are warned of hazards in their blind spots when they leave lanes and in other potentially dangerous situations.
There is an optional pack available for £800. It adds special two tone diamond cut versions of the standard 16 inch alloy wheels and a body kit, including a rear roof spoiler, black grille, side sills and new front and rear bumpers. Black bezel headlights and an exclusive steering wheel design are also included.
The car is also available with 'Around View Monitor', which uses exterior cameras to give a 360 degree v
iew of the space around the car. This can be viewed on a screen on the dashboard and can be used as an aid when making difficult maneuvers.
Nissan Europe's chief marketing manager, Geraldine Ingham, “Nissan Note has already made a real impression in Europe with strong sales in all markets. The arrival of the hugely effective DIG-S engine and the added design enhancements offered by the style pack will further cement its position as a genuine force in the B-segment.”
The new Nissan Note DIG-S model which is on sale now, starts at £14,495, around £1,000 more than the standard 1.2 litre petrol version.
