BMW Recall the ActiveE

It is constantly in the news that Manufacturers and car firms are recalling certain models and to be scared and panic. However, it is more than common for a mass market manufacturer to recall certain models between a certain year of production etc.

Only recently has the worlds biggest car manufacturer in Toyota, have called back millions of vehicles to be checked and repaired to a higher standard after a number of faults. It is believed that approximately half of all the electric 1 series cars sold, will be recalled for a potential problem.

BMW have only recently realised the threat of a major component and have started issuing recalls earlier this month. The new electric powertrain used on the 2011 BMW ActiveE is believed to be the problem and will affect the US more than others, as there is 700 models approximately on the road.

BMW haven't had a major recall in the most recent of years and has risen to the top because of that, however, the German manufacturer did recall over 1 million 5 and 6 series models just last year and has been under scrutiny recently after appearing in the UK's worst engine reliability manufacturers list posted by one of the UK's top insurers.

The previous recall involved approximately 1.3 million vehicles worldwide which minimises the severity of this small and insignificant recall in terms of production numbers. BMW will have contacted yourself if you have a model that is believed to have the fault and you will be asked to contact your local authorised garage and have the car checked over. If the car does have the problem it will be looked at and changed in order to have a completely issue less vehicle.

All checks and alterations are free of charge and will take approximately 30 minutes. BMW will bounce back from the two recalls and return to the top once again.
