The New Skoda Rapid Sport

Skoda have recently developed an all new Rapid Sport model. The Skoda brand has gone from strength to strength over the last number of years and the Volkswagen Group have helped the brand expand and develop into wider markets.

The Volkswagen Group has also developed the technology within the Skoda range of models as it has with the likes of Seat and Audi. The new Skoda Rapid Sport is something that Skoda fans have been waiting for. It is thought that the Skoda Octavia has become the taxi drivers best friend here in the UK as the Octavia model currently accounts for approximately 20% of all taxi vehicles in the UK.

The Skoda Rapid model has been a fairly successful addition to the Skoda range but still remains behind both the Octavia and the Fabia in terms of the sales figures. The new Rapid Sport is looking to change the fortunes of the model in markets such as the UK. The view of the Rapid model is one of that similar to the likes of the Renault Laguna and the new addition of Rapid Sport should help change the opinion of those interested in the model.

As briefly mentioned earlier, the Skoda range has gone from strength to strength since the acquisition by the Volkswagen Group as VW have looked to incorporate and develop technology on the Skoda models. This has resulted in a flood of demand for the models as those purchasing believe that they are getting a Volkswagen for the price of a Skoda.

It is also believed that the Rapid Sport may be built on the same engine platform to that of the Volkswagen Polo Gti model. The Polo Gti has a total of 120bhp along with the standard 1.4 litre engine. The idea of a new and more dynamic version of the Skoda Rapid is something that has long been in the pipeline for those at Skoda.
