The Audi R8 has helped the German brand become one of the world beating brands and built its reputation of both class and reliability. The R8 has been a massive success for Audi and the latest model has been seen during testing at the Nurburgring in Germany.

The R8 model was first released in 2006 and only last year received a face lift. The second generation has been described by those at Audi to be a complete overhaul of the previous model both outside and in.

The leaked images of the disguised model online have cleverly hidden every single panel on the model. However, it is very clear to see that the model belongs to the Audi family and is very much similar to the latest TT model which is due for release later this year.

It is believed that the Audi brand will be using carbon fibre reinforced plastic to build a considerable amount of the body work including the likes of the bonnet and roof to save weight and improve the fuel economy of the model.

Power for the new R8 model will come in the form of the V8 and the V10 engines. The V10 is very much similar to the 5.2 litre engine fitted in the Lamborghini Huracan. Again similar to the Lamborghini, the R8 model will be available in all wheel drive and will be offered with the newly developed seven speed dual gearbox.

The Volkswagen Group who own Audi, have achieved a considerable amount in the last 10 years as the Audi brand has become one of the most in demand manufacturers on the market. The VW Group plan to further extend the success of the Audi brand by offering a host of new models and newly built models.

The Volkswagen Group also plan on using the Audi brand to help them achieve the magic number of 10 million new cars sold.
