The Citroen C4 Cactus
Citroen recently unveiled the latest Cactus model at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it has now been announced that the Citroen model will be used in the development of a new C4 model. The C4 range currently has the standard C4 and the C4 Picasso model as part of it and now Citroen will add the Cactus alongside the two.
The Cactus model shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show seemed to be of a large SUV shape which suggested that the model may well be a stand alone and part of a completely new range. However, it is clear to see that the Cactus will be a part of the C4 range amongst other ranges at the Citroen brand.
Both Peugeot and Citroen have been assessing ways of achieving a profitable year of sales, as the last time out seen the brand achieve their worst production figures within the past decade. The current economic climate within Europe has posed problems for the majority of manufacturers and problems that some couldn't avoid or deal with.
The expansion of the range at the likes of Peugeot Citroen is an example of how the manufacturer aim to achieve a higher rate of sales and therefore profit. Fiat are another manufacturer who have struggled over the past 12 months and have been honest and open about the current situation the base brand find themselves in.
Fiat announced that sales figures have reached its lowest in 20 years for the brand and for the Italian car market itself. The Italian manufacturer stated that the base brand of Fiat is heavily reliant on home grown sales from the south of Europe. However, the Fiat brand has one of the largest dealership networks within the growing economy of the Us and plan on using this network to the advantage of the Fiat base brand.
Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat and even Renault have all exposed their ideas of ways to attack the market and achieve success, however, the state of the European car market has not left them with much to approach.
