A New Seat Leon Hybrid Model?
Seat have recently revealed a new hybrid Leon prototype which is of course based on the new Seat Leon model. The model has the word Verde plastered upon it suggesting that the model will adopt the name if it made it to the production stage.
However, there has been various rumours floating round the automotive world as many in the industry believe that this exact model will not make it into mass production. Seat have kept no secrets in the desire to develop an electric based model specifically for the Spanish car market.
It is widely known that the European economy has had a detrimental effect on certain car markets and the Spanish along with the Italian and the French seemed to have suffered the most. Manufacturers such as Fiat, Peugeot and Citroen have all displayed poor sales figures over the last 12 months as all manufacturers have been depending on home grown sales.
Seat believe that a new electric car market will spark the car market back into life in such countries as Spain and Italy. A totally new way of driving and getting around within Spain is essential to the success and the future of the car market and in terms of electric cars within Spain, there is nothing to compete with in terms of Spanish sales.
It is thought that the New Seat Leon model could be the electric hybrid model that can tempt Spain out of their somewhat traditional ways. The electric car industry has gone from strength to strength within the UK over the last 12 months and the UK Government have looked to push the infrastructure of the electric car. The Nissan Leaf seems to be the run away electric car within the UK, however, Seat will look to change this up with the release of a new Leon model.
