Ford EcoBoost Wins Engine of the Year 2013

Ford EcoBoost Wins Engine of the Year

The powerful but small 1.0 litre engine has once again won the award for the engine of the year at the recent International Engine of the year awards. Ford also achieved the highest ever points tally for the three cylinder engine which is currently available on the Fiesta, Focus and C Max models.

The awards were awarded by a panel of 87 automotive journalists from across the world. The three litre engine received the highest overall rating in the awards 15 year history. The award winning 1.0 litre engine was developed and homed in the UK plant of Dagenham.

The Dagenham plant has since been closed by the US brand as it looks to cut costs in the struggling economy that is the European Car Market. Ford were one of the most successful manufacturers in the year of 2012 and yet they insist that cuts had to be made in the European economy due to the complete slow in demand.

Ford have both the Fiesta and Focus model in the top ten best selling models in the UK and the UK Car Market has been the only sustainable and reliable source of sales for the US brand in Europe. Last time out Ford recorded their best ever sales figures along with the record breaking profit figures.

The Ecoboost engine was first fitted to the Ford Focus model early last year and the demand led to the production figures being doubled to more than a 1,000 a day. The 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine has been even more of a success since being fitted to the Fiesta model as it seemed to have help over turn the success of the Focus model in the UK car market. Ford insist that the new EcoBoost engine will be crucial in the development of Ford engines for the future as the importance of economy looks to grow consistently.
