The All new Renault Zoe

The brand new all electric supermini Renault Zeo has been priced from £13,650 and it is set to be hitting UK showrooms in June of this year. This price includes the Government's plug in car grant deduction and actually places the Zoe electric only, in direct competition with the diesel Renault Clio.

This price of £13,650 will put an owner behind the wheel of the Zoe Expression, entry level model, with the Dynamique intens and Dynamique Zen offering a higher level of specification and a £14,750 price tag. However, these prices are actually only valid until 5th April of this year, when they will be increased to £13,995 for the entry level Expression and £15,195 for the Dynamique models. So if you would like to order the models at these current prices, there isn't long to do so. The first cars will be available in UK dealers from the 7th of June this year.

Before people get too excited, there is something else that needs factoring in. Unlike many of it's rivals, Renault's electric car programme actually doesn't include the cost of the batteries, you will have to lease these at a completely seperate cost each month.

Over a three year time period, this will cost around £70 to £93 monthly, in addition to the showroom price of the Zoe model, of course depending on how many miles the car does each year. There are shorter terms available for the additional fee of £10 a month also.

If you do not travel more than 7,500 miles in a year and are prepared to enter into the three year contract then you will pay £70 a month, or £840 a year.

Renault have included a free home charging point for every buyer of the new Zeo model, which somewhat compensates for this fact. The charging point is worth £500 alone and so will save buyers of the car money, as well as the hassle of trying to find a recharge point. It may even add some value to the home of a buyer.

The Zoe model is also the first to be equipped with the new "Range OptimiZEr" system from Renault, which is a suite of innovations that have been designed to maximise the range. The combination of bi-modal regenerative braking, a heat pump and bespoke EV Michelin tyres potentially give the model a 130 mile range.
