Fuel Cell electric vehicles
The technology that is fuel cell electric powered vehicles is something that will be very valuable to manufacturers in the future. This month it has been announced that three of the worlds biggest mass market car manufacturers have joined forces and more importantly funds to develop the new technology giving them the edge in the market.
Nissan, Ford and Mercedes Benz have announced an agreed collaboration between them to accelerate the development of the new fuel efficient technology. They aim to have developed and built an affordable fuel cell electric vehicle by 2017 and the deal may inspire other manufacturers to do the same and invest in the research and development of a new efficient way to power vehicles.
The companies will have an agreement which states that they all must invest an equal amount in order to take joint rights and responsibility for the development. The developmental work will take place in three of the major continents across the globe and will test the technology in all conditions of heat, wind and altitude etc.
The aim is to achieve a vehicle that has zero emissions and the development of fuel cell vehicles is paramount to that objective. Ford have released a statement which emphasises the importance of the new technology and the funds available due to the new partnership.
The new agreement follows the agreement which was recently announced by Toyota and BMW just a few days ago. The pair announced that they would be developing a fuel cell system of their own which inspired this new deal involving Ford, Mercedes and Nissan.
The motor industry is a “help you to help me industry” as in this current economic condition the European economy and car market is in, it is important that the more successful car manufacturers look at ways of growing and helping the not so successful car manufacturers out there.
