BMW plans to offer eight SUV vehicles by 2020


In some news today regarding the SUV market in the car industry, German car supplier BMW plan to offer a range of upto eight SUV vehicles by the year 2020. BMW have been one of the car industries giants since they were originally established back in 1916 and have since gone on to contend against the likes of Audi amongst many other companies. Vehicles such as the 220d and the X4 have gone on to be two of the companies biggest selling vehicles on offer and they have had a vast line up of different models which include the likes of hatchbacks,convertibles and SUV models. With that being said, the brand are now planning to have at least eight strong selling SUV models on offer by the year 2020.

 

BMW SUV models to go on offer

 

Well at this present time, the German brand currently offer the X4 which went on sale a number of weeks ago. The X5 has also proven itself to be a dominant player on the SUV market since it seen a launch onto world wide markets earlier on this year.

 

Future planned vehicles in the SUV line up from the firm include :

  • The X1 which is all due for a release later on this year. Improved interior features and a seven seat version are planned for this car.

  • The X2 which has not been given a release time as of yet will feature a sporty three door layout and is being classed as a sporty raised Coupe. A 2.0 litre, turbo petrol engine is expected to find it's way into this vehicle.

  • The BMW X3 is ready for a launch also. It has been confirmed that this model will benefit from a 2.0 litre,turbo diesel engine. This engine range is also expected to be included across the entire BMW line up.

  • The BMW X6 model was officially revealed to the world earlier on this year where it will make it's grand debut in front of the general public and media alike this month from the Moscow motor show. It is expected to go on sale throughout December of this year priced at £51,150.

  • The X7 from the German company has also been confirmed to begin production in North America from 2016 and will be the companies seven seater model to go on offer.

  • Finally the X8 model is expected to be announced also but the feeling is that this SUV model will be mainly aimed at America,China,Russia and the Middle East and could prove to be an alternative for that of the Q8 from competing brand Audi.

 

 

How will the SUV market affect BMW's future success ?

So with the range of SUV vehicles on offer from the mass manufacturer set to increase over the next three years, will the success of BMW be set to rise and could this open new doors for some healthy sources of competition from competing companies such as Toyota and even the Japanese brand Nissan who have seen much success in the SUV market over the recent years with the likes of the Qashqai and Juke vehicle.
