Maserati to design the brand new Alfieri model

Maserati will be building the fantastic Alfieri sports car concept, in obvious signs that the regenerated Italian brand is very sincere about challenging Porsche, especially the brand's iconic 911 model.

The brand new coupe will have a range of V6 engines powering it, making up to 520 brake horsepower and will also be offered with all wheel drive and rear wheel drive, along with also being offered in open top form, exactly as the Porsche 911 is.

The engine and performance of the Maserati Alfieri

Harald Wester, the CEO of the firm made this announcement last week as part of a conference that is looking towards the future of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, it's parent company. In the presentation, the Maserati Alfieri, which is named for the most dynamic of the company's founding Maserati brothers, will be arriving in about 2016.

According to Wester, who runs Alfa Romeo also, the goal is for Maserati to cover 100% of the luxury car market. The brand will also, likely next year, be launching the Levante SUV, which was also unveiled in the presentation and will have a mix of V6 petrol and diesel engines powering it, along with a V8 petrol engine. This will give the company a rival against the hugely popular Cayenne model from Porsche, along with the Range Rover Sport.

Reaction for the Maserati Alfieri

At the Geneva Motor Show earlier on this year, the Maserati Alfieri 2+2 concept was the surprise package, the model wowed crowds with it's fantastic lines that blended together in sculptural and futuristic forms, along with retro detailing. The brand said at the show that this look is likely to be repeated throughout other models too.

The company waited until last week however to make the announcement that the car would be making production.
