Toyota withdraw from the UK Crossover market
Toyota have recently announced plans to completely withdraw from the UK crossover market due to the recent slump fellow Japanese and market leader Nissan's Juke model.
The Nissan Juke has been the most successful model in the crossover market and has endured a fine year of sales in the steady market of the UK. The rise in sales for the Nissan Juke has led to many other main manufacturers producing their very own crossover model such as Ford and Vauxhall.
The new year has seen the crossover market receive four new models to compete with the top spot in the market held by the Nissan Juke. Ford have joined the race with the new Eco Sport and Vauxhall with the Mokka.
However, the Juke has seen a slump in sales in the first month of the new year and towards the back end of last year meaning that other cars in the crossover are doubting whether the demand is still there for this type of vehicle. Toyota themselves believe the demand in the UK may have dropped due to the wait for the new registration time of March 2013.
Whilst Nissan and Toyota continue to doubt the crossover market and overall sales figures, fellow Japanese car manufacturer Mazda have recently announced that they will achieve a profit for the first time in five years.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser is the model in question and was launched in 2009 with the acclaimed title of being the worlds lowest emission producer for a four wheel drive vehicle. However, the model has since received criticism which highlights the dull driving experience which matches the same dull styling of the vehicle.
However, the new RAV4 is expected to take off with a flurry of sales in 2013 as the last model was one of the most successful models in the history of Toyota and may well be one the companies top assets.
