Subaru ditch aftercare package

Subaru, who usually offer a free aftercare package with all of their new models have decided to ditch the Everything Taken Care of aftercare programme. The aftercare package, which usually came with new Subaru's included a free vacuum and wash every three years. This also included free dent and alloy wheel repair, in those three years also.

Subaru's new plan is to offer a five year warranty of 100,000 miles on all of their models, excluding the WRX STi, which is covered by a 600,000 mile guarantee for three years. The point of which the offer was withdrawn is not clear, as the programme was available just this December. It has not become clear yet whether customers who had bought their Subaru model before the programme was scrapped will actually benefit from it.

The programme provided customers with a free key replacement service as well as free tyre storage for winter and a free collection and return of the car when it was time for it to have a service. Subaru estimated that the deal was worth around £7,000. Maybe this is one of the reasons Subaru have decided to come up with something else to promise their customers, it appears that it may cost them a lot less than the aftercare programme would. It seems obvious that compared to all of these promises that a customer could claim every few years, that a simple warranty may benefit the manufacturer financially in the long run. Could it be that Subaru are feeling the pinch like the rest of us?
