Volkswagen finally reveal details on the Golf R estate

In the latest breaking news coming out of the car industry today, Volkswagen have officially revealed all of the brand new details on their all new Golf R estate model and a full list of specifications to come along with the vehicle. The car was spotted earlier on this year under heavy disguise and then a number of months later undisguised testing at the world famous Nurburgring. Speculation has been running wild regarding what new features will come along with the car and now the guessing is over as just under an hour ago the firm revealed all that we can look forward to from the car ahead of its official first time reveal this week at the Los Angeles motor show. The R range from the VW brand is a more power focused alternative line up of big selling vehicles from the companies range and the Golf is one of the biggest selling vehicles in the division. Now the brand have introduced us to an R estate variant which will of course offer more space than the traditional Golf and will also look to gain the interest of customers looking for a more powerful driving experience ideal for the whole family.

The line up of specs revealed for the Volkswagen Golf R estate

So first and foremost, we see that the company have included the same engine unit which can currently be found in their Golf R hatchback model which consists of a two litre, turbocharged TSI engine. A 296 brake horse power deliverance has been confirmed for the car as has a torque development of 380NM sent directly to all four wheels. The top speed from the hatchback which rests at 155mph is also brought over to this estate variant with a 0 to 62 mph sprint time achievable in 5.1 seconds. A six speed DSG transmission system has also been confirmed to come along with the vehicle completely standard.

With the car being an estate you can also expect some changes to find their way into the bodywork and design structure of the Golf R estate. Customers will firstly be faced with the choice of either 18 or 19 inch wheels. A brand new set of Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights can also be found on this Golf variant. A redesigned front bumper and air intakes aswell as a new grille are also to be found. Changing our view on the car now to the rear end of the Golf R estate, the vehicle has been confirmed to receive a quad exhaust pipe system and a set of aero flaps on the D pillars. With a look inside of the car now, the setup remains pretty much the same as that of the hatchback variant. Customers get to decide between either Alcantara or sports seating made from leather. A brand new carbon dashboard can also be found aswell as a brand new ambient lighting arrangement.

Without a doubt the new Golf R estate will certainly prove to be one of the sportiest estate vehicles on offer from next year. Other companies such as Skoda have introduced the Octavia estate and American brand Ford have seen success with their Mondeo models over the years. So will they follow suit and introduce higher spec levels for their respective vehicles, or will the Golf R estate have its rule on the car industry?.

For what cost will the Volkswagen Golf R estate be made available?

Prices for the vehicle have not been stated by the brand as of yet but a cost of around the £31,000 area can be expected from the time of launch. It has however been confirmed that the car will go on sale from the spring time of 2015. Expect to see more of the vehicle this week in LA.
