Mercedes recall 8,000 C Class models

In some of the latest recall news today in the vehicle industry, the German brand Mercedes have become the next firm to issue a recall on some of their vehicles. The brand have confirmed that 8,000 C Class models world wide both estate and saloon models are being recalled due to a faulty steering issue. In the UK alone it has been confirmed that 8,145 vehicles are affected in total and all affect vehicles produced this year. The news of this recall comes from the backlash of other models being recalled by both Ford and Vauxhall with their popular selling Adam model amongst many other manufacturers. Ford earlier issued over 800,000 vehicles due to airbag problems and Vauxhall with the Adam due to a steering part fell under the standards of the brand.

How to find out if your C Class is affected?

The steering fault was found by the vehicle and operator services agency and has stated the recall is happening via their official website. If you own a Mercedes Benz C Class saloon or estate and your vehicle was designed between the 17th of January this year and the 22nd of September, your car will be affected by the recall. It has been stated by the brand that local dealers will be in contact with the owners to organise the checks and repairs if need be. It has also been stated that the fix will take roughly around thirty minutes. Mercedes have said that until that time, the car is still safe to drive.

The problem that the vehicle is being recalled over comes with a fault with the steering system. A steering column coupling lock may not have been installed correctly is what has been confirmed. The problem can often be determined by a different noise to make its way from the steering or worse the cars steering could be affected whilst driving.
