High rating motorcycle on the market : Yamaha XJ6

This week at Gap insurance 123 we are checking out some of the highest rated motorbikes available around the world from the Motorcycle news and their owners. The high rating bike for today comes to you courtesy of the minds over at Yamaha who are well known for their R1 and R6 models and the bike in question is the XJ6. The XJ6 was first produced in 2009 and is still in production to this day. It has proven to be a key performer both on the road and in terms of success for the Japanese company. The bike shares the same sort of look to some Street fighter models. What we mean by this is that the fairing is left to a minimal state. From the front end it looks similar to the speed triple from British manufacturer Triumph but does it perform just as well ?.

The specialities of the Yamaha XJ6

Whether you are a fairly new rider on the roads or even a long time motorbike owner, the XJ6 could prove to be a good purchase for you. It comes fitted with a 600cc engine which produces a power output of 77bhp. This overall helps the bike achieve total top speed limits of 135 miles per hour. A fuel injection system and a smoother clutch and gearbox also comes fitted with the XJ6.

A perfect riding experience overall for the XJ6 as it is designed with a narrow fuel tank and a tubular steel diamond chassis to help out when it comes to lightweight materials. Thanks to these features, we see the XJ6 perform very smoothly both on those long journeys or even for just riding around the town.

Some add ons to the bike may also grab your attention. The likes of the LCD dash and the pre load adjustment for the rear shock system are great features. The handlebars on the XJ6 can also be adjusted either back or forth which can help provide a much more comfortable riding experience also.

Of course there are plenty of 600cc motorbikes on offer around the world today from the likes of Honda and rival Japanese firm Suzuki but this XJ6 could very well prove to be the key one to keep an eye on.

What would the XJ6 cost you both new and used ?

Well for a brand version of this bike straight from the showroom, you are looking at a figure of £6,099 for the latest 2014 model. To buy a used version from Yamaha, the official price tag stands at £5,290. The bike is available today and has many variants on the road at present from over the years since 2009.
