The Future of Vauxhall

The Future of Vauxhall

Vauxhall are set to continue the success of the Corsa model by releasing the latest development towards the end of this year. The Vauxhall Corsa along with the Astra have been amongst the two best selling vehicles in the UK for approximately 24 months.

The Astra has always had a promised production date of 2015 and is set to remain in the North West plant of Ellesmere Port. The US owned Vauxhall brand have been pushed to continue heavy and direct marketing strategies as General Motors look to take a step closer to the top selling spot in the world.

Last year, General Motors finished just behind the best selling manufacturer Toyota and above the Volkswagen Group for the year of 2013. Toyota returned to the top of the global sales chart for the first time since 2009, whilst the Volkswagen Group reveals a lack of marketing and a number of issues prevented them climbing higher up the table. However, rivals Ford may have been the deciding factor in the results.

Ford have kept both the Corsa and the Astra off the top of the charts in the UK for over 24 months consecutively. The Ford Fiesta has been the best selling model in the UK and the Focus has not been far behind the model. The Focus model is set to be updated and released earlier this year which would once again result in the brand having the jump on the General Motors owned Vauxhall.

Ford currently account for approximately 14% of the market share in the UK at this moment in time and the long term objective for the Vauxhall UK brand is to overtake Ford. The current Vauxhall market share hold is of 11% and will increase year on year.

A number of sponsorship deals with both the national teams in the UK and one of the biggest names in English football may just help the Vauxhall brand increase the necessary market share in the near future.
