Volvo goes all business style with the S80

In some news today coming out of the Swedish car manufacturing plant known as Volvo, the latest machine from the company that has hit our roads recently and many more around the global car consuming market, comes in the form of the S80 and is built in a business sort of style as stated by the Sweden based brand owners. The latest model comes in the form of an S80, D2. So where is all of this D naming coming from ? . Well in regards to a secondary name if you will, in terms of the Volvo brand, the letter D is based on the vehicles power and engine size/capabilities, as the Swede's are well known for from recent history. The D however though comes in the form of one of the smallest diesel engines that the company currently have on offer, which is a little bit of a disappointment.

What makes up for the D engine in the S80

As we previously stated, the engine has come as a bit of a disappointment to many car customers of the brand around the world, which is a shame considering Volvo have had a good reputation in the past for making powerful four wheeled vehicles. But are there any goods that outweigh the bad in this situation ? . Personally we believe there are, and these come in the form of the inclusion of , a 1560cc engine, which comes in the form of a four cylinder turbo diesel. The six speed automatic transmission system comes as standard for the front wheel drive model. In terms of the performance aspect of the car itself, we are quite impressed considering. The category D engine S80 is capable of top speeds of 115 miles per hour, although there is a disappointing time which is to be expected of such a small engine size, what we mean by this is that the model goes from 0 to 62 miles per hour in a somewhat disappointing time of 12.8 seconds. Although a few of the neat features come in the form of the fully leather interior on the model and, the lovely wooden look around the gear stick and other various parts of the dashboard.

What's the pricing structure like on the S80 ?

In terms of the pricing structure regarding the latest addition to the franchise from the Swedish manufacturer, the S80 is available at your nearest dealership right now, and comes at a price tag of £29,250, although we doubt whether with the small engine size and the steep price for what the S80 actually is, will become a rival for the likes of the BMW 5 series or Mercedes E class model.
